Ballaghaderreen Clubman Michael Reynolds was a member of the great 3 in a row Galway All-Ireland winning team. He partnered Mick Barrett at midfield in the '64 final. As well as his three All-Ireland senior medals he won National League, and All-Ireland junior honours. He later won Junior, Intermediate and over 30 titles with Ballaghaderreen.

In the season 1972 – 1973, the following Ballaghaderreen Club players lined out with the Mayo senior team – John Morley, Sean Kilbride, Frank Burns, Christy McCann, John McKenzie, John O'Mahony, Dan O'Mahony, Gerry Coleman, Connie Moynihan. This must surely be a record for one club in modern times.

  Present Ballaghaderreen Club chairman Jim Fleming played inter-county football with Donegal as well as his native Mayo.

All-Ireland medal holders from Ballaghaderreen club include jack Shouldice (All-Ireland senior with Dublin), Freddie McGovern (All-Ireland junior with Mayo), Paddy Jordan (All-Ireland junior with Mayo), Owen Ruthledge (All-Ireland junior with Mayo), Seamie O'Donnell (All-Ireland senior with Louth), Sean Flanagan (2 All-Ireland senior with Mayo), Mick Reynolds (3 All-Ireland senior with Galway, one junior with Warwickshire), Sean Kilbride (All-Ireland minor with Mayo), Connie Moynihan (one All-Ireland minor and one All-Ireland under-21 with Mayo), John O'Mahony (one All-Ireland minor and one All-Ireland under-21 with Mayo)

The late Tom Jennings who as the mainstay of the Ballaghaderreen Club for many years was a selector for the Mayo team in 1929.

Ballaghaderreen senior footballer Frank Kelly made his senior inter-county debut with mayo at left-half forward on March 23 rd 1980 . Frank was the captain of the Warwickshire team that played Down in the National Football League Division 11 final in 1978. he was nominated Gaelic Footballer of the year in England in 1977, the same year that Liam Brady won the Irish soccer player of the year in England.

    Dan O'Mahony was the only player to have played in the winning Junior, Intermediate, Minor, U-21 and Senior Championship finals 1968 – 1972.

    Ballaghaderreen received the Macks Trophy for the East Mayo Club of the year in 1979. They were also nominated East Mayo Club of the Year in 1972.

    When Ballaghaderreen won the Mayo Junior Championship in 1968 their left-back Tony Coleman flew in from Birmingham for each game. Tony has since moved to Ireland and now lives in Enfield.

    A very organized and enthusiastic camogie Club existed in Ballaghaderreen during the ‘40's and '50's. the following Ballaghaderreen team defeated Claremorris in this era. M. Garvey, L. Duffy, M. Shouldice, A. Frain, R. Hanrahan, S. Walsh, E. Walsh, A. Flatley, M. Delaney, M. Murray, A. Gallagher. At a Mayo CAmogie Board convention Mr. P.O'Brien, Ballaghaderreen was elected vice-chairman. Jimmy Hiney was a member of the selection committee while Miss. Monic Shouldice was also a member of the Board.

    Ballaghaderreen G.A.A. Club and officials had a very successful tour to Leicester in 1969. they were hosts of local G.A.A. Club of which former Ballaghaderreen player Tony Coleman was a member. While on tour they won 15-a-side and 7-a-side tournaments.

    Dessie Keegan has won 28 All Ireland, 4 World and 3 American Titles all in Handball.

    Joe McCann has won 17 All Ireland and 2 World Titles, all in Handball.

    Joe Dillon, Christy McCann, Frank Kelly have all played for Mayo at Different states and their sons, Joseph, Joe and Barry respectively have also played for the County in recent times.

    Eamonn Colleran played on the Connacht Colleges team that toured Australia in 2001.

    James Kilcullen was player of the year for 2002-2003 at Sligo IT. He is nephew of former Sligo player Michael Kearins.

    Andrew Hanley played on the Ireland under-17 team that played Australia in 2003.
